Etching Dichroic Glass

Its a long weekend here and I have been having fun playing in the studio. Its so nice to have 3 full days to hibernate in there. Its been a really chilly weekend as well, so getting the kiln and torches going heat up the studio until its nice and cosy.
I have been etching on dichroic glass, I find this very relaxing. There are a number of ways in which you can etch patterns in dichroic glass. I will go into the various techniques in upcoming posts.
Why bother etching your own patterns in glass do I hear you say, when there are so many commercially available patterns available.
Well that is the point. There are so many available that everyone is using them, It starts to look like the same. Don’t get me wrong there are some great patterns available and not everyone wants to take the time to making there own. I enjoy the process and I like the fact the end product is a little bit different to everything else.
Here are some samples of what I have made this weekend.
