A great source of copyright free images for you to use in your various artworks are the Books released by Dover Publications.
These books are a great collections of images that you can freely use in your artwork. There are literally hundreds of titles available and each book tends to have a theme. You can see the full range of Clip art and Design on Cd Rom serries here
Imagaes can be used for:
*Metal Etching
*Image transfer on Polymer clay and Precious metal clays
*Source of inspiration
About half of the Dover books released also come with a CD so that you can alter the images, resize them before you print them out.
The best selection of these books that I have found in Sydney is Kinokuniya right upstairs form Town Hall Station. They have an incredible selection to choose from. These books are reasonbly priced starting from about $10 and go up to about $30.
Average price of books with CD’s is $24. Great value when you consider the number of images that you get in each book and it saves you time looking for things on the internet.
You can also sign up for a weekly newsletter on the Dover Website to be sent free copyright images each week. The images are rather potluck but sometimes you can strike gold.
Books like the one below a great for making etching plates, it has large images and repetitave patterns. Once you have made an etched plate they can be used as stamps on paper, texture plates for polymer clay or precious metal clay. Or they can be used as a textured base for enamelling.
