For so many years I have fiddled around with various photography techniques.
Waiting for the morning sun and taking them in the shade, waiting for cloudy days and taking photos all day, after noon sun, direct sunlight, light tents with desk lamps. You know the scenario I am sure you have tried them as well.
I had always looked with lust at all the amazing photography set ups that were available on the market but always preferred to spend my money on supplies. With my time being so limited these days I was unable to take photographs during the day and decided it was time for me to splash and buy myself a set up so that I could take photos of an evening and didn;t have to worry where the sun was located!
Well here is my new toy! This is it with all its pretty lights on.

and this it it without its lights on

I purchased the set up from DigPro, here is there website : DigPro Studios
They have so many different light studios and sized tents available to suit your recquirements. The one I got is just the 40 cm tent with donut shaped lights. It is more then big enough for me to take photos of jewellery and beads.
So I have been playing around with the light in various positions and setting up my camera correctly for the light and different coloured backdrops.
Below is a picture of a lampwork glass bead and the photo has not been edited at all. I am amazed at how true to colour the photos are coming out.

This photo is using the black backdrop with dichroic glass, again this phot has not been touched up or edited in anyway. I was particulalry impressed that there is no light reflections on the glass and that the various layers of glass came out in the photo.

This one is a lampwork glass bead on the black perspex.

There was a bit of reflection on this bead, it may have been due to the fact i took the photo through the middle of the donut light, although that was supposed to reduce any glare or reflection. I think the shpae has a lot to do with it as well. I was getting alot of reflection from this bead regardless of how I took the photo. But I will persevere.

I am really happy with the results so far, I still need to do alot of playing and adjusting to get it just right!
I highly recommend this lighting studio and Dig Pro were amazing to deal with, very quick and product was extremly easy to set up!
