What Doesn’t Kill you……..

December 8, 2012 in Inspiration, Updates by Wendylee

Its that time of year where everyone is burning the candle at both ends to get through everything they need to to finish up the year.

I have to laugh when I see the countdowns saying so many sleeps until Christmas, well there is not to much sleeping happening in this house. and my to do list is not getting any shorter.

Today’s top of the to do list is lots of sanding and polishing, my fingers will not like me by tonight.

Next on my list is to set up my mock booth for the Dreamers Markets I have to make sure that all my pretties fit on the table.  I am very excited about these markets but a little nervous at the same time. It has been such a long time since I have done a market. Dreamers Markets are on Saturday the 15th December at the Parramatta Riverside Theatre. Stop by and say hi. See my new collection in the real life.

Blogging is not getting anything done so I better get cracking on that list.

First I will leave you with this funny picture/quote that I found on  Trust me I’m a Designer

Dreamers Market – Parramatta Riverside Theatre

November 5, 2012 in Exhibitions & Competitions, Updates by Wendylee

Only 40 days left to go for the Dreamers Christmas Markets.

Markets will be held at Parramatta Riverside Theatre on Saturday the 15th December. Great timing for last minute Christmas shopping and supporting local artists in buying handmade.

I will be exhibiting my jewellery at the markets and have been very busy preparing. I have not been making much stock yet, but I seem to making lots of lists of the the things  to do.

In the leed up to the markets I have been busy making my displays, cutting labels. stamping things and all the whole lot of other preparations for my stall.

Packaging is something I am stuck. Not sure whether to go with my regular packaging or change it to Christmas themed? Or perhaps just offer Christmas packaging as an option?

Do you Pin?

November 4, 2012 in Inspiration, Updates by Wendylee

Once upon a time in a world faraway there use to be a thing called a pinboard. Usually made of cork that you would hang on your wall and you would pin things to it. Pretty pictures, photographs of loved ones, somthing that inspires you. These inventions used to hang above your desk. The purpose of these pinboards was to make you smile, laugh, dream or create.

Although these “pinboards” still do exist, there is a new kid in town called Pinterest.  Virtual pinboards. No more tearing pictures out of magazines in waiting rooms. All is required is a mere click of the button. “Pin it” and its been added to your pinboard. Sounds like witchcraft.

So are you a pinterest addict? Create numerous boards to add wonderful pictures of places you will go, things you will make, or simply things that make you giggle.

My name is Wendy and I am a Pinterest addict

I create boards for ideas for new collections I have in mind, researching those ideas. Things I like and reflect my personality. Generally things that inspire me.

If you are interested in taking a look at my my boards.  Follow me on Pinterest

Red Glassy Goodness

October 21, 2012 in New On Etsy, New Products, Updates by Wendylee

Donuts without the calories. Not possible I hear you say. Well if they are made of glass than you wouldn’t want to eat them.

Have listed lots of glass donuts on Cabochons Galore

Various shades of reds. I am loving red at the moment and wearing lots of it as well.

These fused glass donuts have large holes that have been drilled into them. They look fantastic threaded up on torn saris, various threads and fibres, Perhaps even a kumihimo braid.

Are you ready for your Christmas orders?

October 12, 2012 in Uncategorized, Updates by Wendylee

Well as the saying goes “Time Flies when you are having fun”. This year has been no exception feels like we were only celebrating the new year last week and now its 9 weeks until christmas.

This sent me into a bit of a panic and made me do a stocktake of supplies so that I was ready. Suppliers always get inundated with last minute orders and the general christmas rush. So I wanted to be prepared so that I didn’t run out of anything and got in early so that my suppliers had it in stock.

So my checklist went a little like this.

  • Business Cards – Very important especially with upcoming shows, exhibitions and markets.
  • Gift Tags – MOO cards are ideal for this. Mini business cards.  www.moo.com
  • Packaging – Boxes, tins and Tissue Paper
  • Postal Supplies – Padded envelopes, Express Bags.
  • Sterling Silver Recycled Sheet and Wire (to make all my earhooks)
  • Sheet Glass
  • Wax – I know seems a little weird to have on my list but I need it to carve my designs for lost wax casting.
  • Metalsmithing Super Essentials – SOLDER, FLUX AND PICKLE
  • Assorted Findings and beads that are not handmade but are rather accents.
  • Snaplock bags (can never have to many in various sizes)

Check, check, OK I think I am all sorted and actually organised.

I have been doing alot of searching Ebay for packaging supplies as there alot of sellers sell in various bulk quantities. There are also some sellers who sell tissue paper precut in 30cm x 30cm pieces which is an ideal size for jewellery. Convenient so that I also don’t have to cut it up as its ready to go.

One little gem I found in my search was this seller who sells various printe snaplock bags. http://stores.ebay.com.au/Mini-Ziplock-Bags

How is your to do list coming along?
