Corsets - A collection of ones I like

I love corsets, they remind me of old style clothing, times gone by, women dressed as ladies, men behaved as gentlemen….There is somthing romantic about the corset although I doubt I would find it to romantic if I had to wear one on a daily basis.

I thought  would put together a collection of corsets that I like and think are fun.

So here goes…

Well I had to start with my dichroic glass corset pendants. These have been handetched and shaped like corsets, lots of fun.

Dichroic glass Corset

Next we have Polymer clay corsets that have been made by Wickedgems on etsy

I simply love these pendants and have admired them for along time, the incredible detail in them is amazing.

Now we have Corset gift bags, have somthing special that normal boring wrapping will just not do, then give that gift in a corset pouch.  Stitchntyme on etsy

Now this would have to be the ultimate in corset accessories. A corset for your coffe cup! What a brilliant idea. Check out Jengee on etsy

What corset would not be complete without a pair of spats. Check out mariapozo on etsy for her wonderful creations.

To conclude my list of cool corst things I will show you this lovely oriental corset. Check out The Tailors Chest on etsy

Good Food and Wine Show - Sydney

Two of my favourite things combined into one show what more could you ask for?

Ok perhaps if they combined it with a jewelry show as well.

I love attending this show each year, lots of things to see, smell and taste.

I always come away with lots of inspiration of new things to cook.

This Years celebrity chef is Gordon Ramsey, I am addicted to his TV shows and am looking forward to seeing him cook live.

There are lots of workshops, lectures and demonstrations throughout the weekend. Some of them are already booked out but the show itself is worth attending if you can get into the city.

The show is held at Darling Harbour June 20-22nd for the full programme see the website.

Sandblasted Cabochon - Squiggles delight

sandblasted cabochon bezel set in sterling silver

Over the last few months I have been experimenting with a technique called sandblasting. The idea is that you blast away a pattern into the glass with sand at high pressure. The pattern is masked and then you blast away! This is a great technique as it gives depth and richness to the work.

The cabochon in this necklace has a sandblasted trail down the centre. Its like a deep path that swirls down the cabochon like a long winding road.

I have bezel set the cabochon in sterling silver and acented the whole pendant with a squiggle in sterling silver at the top.

There will be lots more of these styles to come whilst I continue to experiment with what the technique has to offer.
