Shrink! Shrank! Shrunk! by Kathy Sheldon

Shrink! Shrank! Shrunk! – Kathy Sheldon

A great new book on Shrink Plastic. Released just in time for Christmas this is a must have on your christmas wishlist.

This book was a step away from the jewellery making books  I tend to purchase. It was the images on the cover that drew me to this book.

The designs were so whimsical and fun that I wanted to play to.

There are 31 projects in this book that I am sure you will find somthing that inspires you, my problem is which one do I start with.

The instructions are easy to follow. The techniques involved do not involve alot of equipment to get started and can be done by young children.

The materials used are very cost effective. So many jewellery making techniques involve expensive equipment and supplies. They are also time consuming.

A great book full of fun and quirky designs that could also keep your kids occupied during the school holidays.

I loved this cute little unicorn wrap around ring y Tania Mo of Greenmot

Day Nine – Unit – 14 Day Photo Challenge

I think I spoke to soon yesterday when I said we have had such great weather for this challenge. Woke up this morning and its overcast and smells smoky. There is probably a bushfire nearby since we have ha such hot weather the last couple of days. Today we are expecting 33 degrees celcius. A bit warm but not to bad if there is no humidity.

Todays challenege is Unit the album of Regurgitator which ranked at number 10 on triple J’s hottes 100 albums of all time.

My favourite song from this album is Polyester girl, so what better inspiration then to take a photo of my favourite red dress that is polyester lined.

OK, so camera inhand, Ipod on and charged. Press play and off I go.

Oh what a beautiful Mor-ning! Oh what a beautiful Day! Oh what a beautiful Mor-ning! Everything’s going my way!

I didn’t get very far and I found the perfect shot.  I love these daisies and this garden was full of them.

Todays challenge was “Two Shoes” the album for The Cat Empire. It is also the title of a song on the album. I am a big fan of the cat empire and have seen them play live twice and have there music playing whilst I work.

Two Shoes – The Cat Empire

One day one woman asked him ‘what do you to survive?’ he said ‘oh my dear listen here’ and this is what he cried
On my feet I wear two shoes for dancing ‘dancing to be free’ my feet they’re paying tribute to the Bobby Marley legacy
My knees they’ve got some cuts and bruises from skating all my days when i’m skating with my friends my troubles drift away
I say my legs they’re wearing baggy pants I like to move around cos getting down and jumping up these are some good things that I found
Aeehhhiiiaaaaa boom shak the empire be rising Aeehhhiiiaaaaa boom shak we making some lovin Aeehhhiiiaaaaa boom shak the greedy men running Aeehhhiiiaaaaa boom shak got two shoes for dancin
My waist it’s got a slinky belt with a clip that’s quick to open because loving is the sweetest thing and from my waist it happen
And my stomachs got some tasty food that’s making me feel good cos sharing some meals is something i wish the world could do
And my chest it wears a singlet ah my chest it beating proud my chest suggest I am a man that no institution can knock down And around my neck is superstition hanging from a chain because i’ve got my gods but in the end I make my own way
[CHORUS]
My mouth it’s got a great big smile that shows some great big teeth to friends it brings a happiness and to enemies it brings defeat
And my eyes they’ve got some vision that can see through many lies ah my eyes they look for better things the better things to see in life
And my ears are wearing head phones that do play my favourite songs not music i’m told to like but the songs that make me dance along
Cos on my feet are shoes for dancing ‘dancing to be free’ my feet they’re paying tribute to the bobby marley legacy

Day Six – East – 14 Day Photo Challenge

What sort of Australian list would it be if there was no Cold Chisel on it.

Cold Chisels album “East” was released in 1980, ranked number 42 on the hottest albums of all time.

Love them or hate them they are a band that everybody knows a couple of there songs. I think they would be number 1 on the list of bands that guys love to sing to drunk.

I am a bit of a silly mood today, so I thought I would have a little fun with this.

Without further ado…….drum roll…. “East” – Cold Chisel

I promise I will behave myself tomorrow…LOL.. Probably not.

Have a GREAT day.

Day Five – In Ghost Colours – 14 Day photo Challenge

Welcome to day Five of the 14 day Photo Challenge kindly hosted by Maddabling.

Todays theme is “In Ghost Colours” which is the album title of band Cut Copy. The album was placed at number 36 of the Triple J’s greatest albums of all time.

I don’t actually own this album but played a few tracks on Youtube to see what the band was like. Very Funky, may actually consider purchasing this one.

I knew exactly what I was going to take for this challenge. There is this great little cemetry right next to my bus stop that has some really great headstones.

The light was getting really bad as the sun was starting to set. Lucky it was daylight savings. Changed the photo to black and white with my fancy schmancy camera and than I fiddled with it a little in photoshop.

Day Four – Beams – 14 Day Photo Challenge

I loveeeee the Presets, they always have me bouncing around singing, dancing, or working out. Great cycle music.

So I was very excited that Day four’s challenge was “Beams” by the presets. The only problem I was stumped there was no way I was posting a picture here of me working out, that’s just not happening. So what other significance did this album have that would inspire a photograph.

“You got me thinking, Bout the kitty in the middle. You got me thinking , Bout the kitty in the middle.”

That’s it…….  I knew before starting this challenge that I would possibly not make it through the challenge without a piccie of my cat. The thing about Leo he does not like his photo taken when I want to take his photo. Although the moment I am  paying attention to something else he all of sudden wants his photo taken.

Drummmmmrollllll……….Leo the photo bomber. Song Title : Kitty in the Middle : Presets Album – Beams

I was actually trying to take action shots of the dandelion. Leo decided he wanted to model with it and sat on it! Lucky I have enough dandelions in my garden I can try again tommorrow.

Day Three – A Book like this – 14 Day Photo Challenge

Into Day 3 of the 14 day photo challenge.

Todays theme is “A book like this”

“A Book Like This” is the album name from Angus & Julia Stone, which reached number 38 in the Top 100 Albums of all time.

I am not familar with this album so I just went with the theme of the album title.

The photo is my current reading material on my bedside table.  I currently switch between 2 books. The first being “Her Fearful Symmetry – Audrey Niffengger. The second book is “Pink Boots and a Machete – Mireya Mayor. Its the story of a NFL Cheerleader who becomes a National Geographic Explorer. Mireya Mayor is currently the host on National Geographic Wild Channel.

Day Two – Hourly Daily – 14 Day Photo Challenge

Oppppps in all my excitement of yesterdays events I forgot to do my day 2 photo challenge.

The theme for day 2 is Hourly Daily, this is the title of Australian band You Am I.

The album reached number 26 on the Triple j Top 100 greatest albums of all times.

My photo interpretation is from the song title “Soldiers”

Day One : Young Modern : 14 Day Photo Challenge

Combining a love of blogging, photography and music, this challenge is based on Album Titles from the Hottest 100 Australian Albums of All Time as compiled by Triple J

The only rule that exists for this challenge is that the photo must be taken on that day. So I will assume we are safe to interpret the themes as we choose to.

A list of the themes are as below.

Day 1 – Young, Modern

Day 2 – Hourly, Daily

Day 3 – A Book Like This

Day 4 – Beams

Day 5 – In Ghost Colours

Day 6 – East Day 7 – Two Shoes

Day 8 – Wonder

Day 9 – Unit

Day 10 – Lovers

Day 11 – Tea and Sympathy

Day 12 – Three

Day 13 – Human Frailty

Day 14 – Immersion

Day One – Young Modern

So young modern is an album released by Australian bad Silverchair in 2007.

It was voted number 70 on the hottest 100 all time albums.

My challenge now was how was i going to interpret this into a photograph.

My initial thoughts was a photograph of a silverchair..mmm…don’t have fun. So armed with my camera in hand, ipod playing “young Modern” I decided to venture out into the streets and see if I could be inspired.

What an adventure I was attacked by a yappy little dog, perhaps it was my singing that upset him. A grumpy old man told me I could not take photographs of his beautiful Lillie’s in his front yard. He also pointed his finger at me and said to stay away from the wattle as well. HOW RUDE. The wattle was on the nature strip but I wasn’t going to mess with him as he had a shovel in his hand.

I happily left them behind and kept walking along when I came to the big old stairs that I walk everyday. They are steep cement steps that take you down to the riverfront. They are great for running up and down as many runners do of a morning.

Then came the light bulb moment!!!!

“Waking up strong in the morning

Walking in a straight line

Lately I am a desperate believer

Been walking in a straight line”

These are part of the lyrics of Silverchair’s Straight Line which is on the Young Modern Album.

These stairs are my Day one photo. It is the path I take everyday, it is also the path I take to stay strong when I run them on weekends and its walking in a straight line.

Photos of the other participants will be listed daily in a single post.
